Description:
Licenses and regulates private postsecondary educational institutions operating vocational and degree programs. Includes private universities, colleges, career colleges, business schools, technical, and vocational schools. Does not include schools for cosmetology, barbers, and truck driving. Also accepts and investigates complaints against them after the grievance procedure at the school has been exhausted. Administers the Student Tuition Recovery Fund which provides financial restitution to students injured by private postsecondary institutional closures.
