Programs that enforce the laws that establish standards for the safety, purity, effectiveness, classification and availability of prescription and over-the-counter substances that are used in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment or prevention of disease.
Programs that enforce the laws that establish standards and policies regarding the production, processing, composition, quality, nutrition and safety of foods (including pet food and animal feed), food additives, colors and cosmetics.
Programs that enforce the laws that establish product manufacturing and product distribution standards to reduce the risk of injuries and eliminate hazards associated with consumer products, toys, flammable fabrics and hazardous substances. Activities may include investigating reports of safety-related defects, requiring manufacturers to take corrective action and/or providing information about voluntary or mandatory product recalls.
