Research in this area addresses a wide variety of topics including immigration and immigrant adjustment, Native Peoples, race and race relations, attitudes towards diverse cultures, minority group conflicts, and cultural diversity policies.

LGBTQ2+ Studies

Programs that conduct research which focuses on sexuality and gender in history, society, politics and cultural life, usually with an emphasis on the modern emergence of the gender and sexually expansive community as a sociocultural minority movement, the identification of social, literary and artistic themes and the development of public policy and legal issues surrounding the LGBTQ2+ community.

Regional and Area Studies

Programs that conduct research which focuses on the history, society, politics, culture and economics of defined areas, regions and countries of the world.

Women's Studies

Programs that conduct research which focuses on the history, sociology, politics, culture and economic roles of women; and the development of modern feminism in relation to the roles played by women in different periods and locations in North America and the world.
